Job description

On behalf of our client, a global leader in digital engineering and consulting, we are seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, operational excellence, and innovation. This is a transformative opportunity for a seasoned executive to shape the financial future of a fast-paced, private equity-backed organization. The CFO will collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive strategic growth, optimize financial systems, and ensure operational efficiency. With core operations across Germany, Finland, Sweden, and the UK, this role offers a dynamic, global scope.

Location and Reporting Structure

  • Location: This role is based in Germany, with a preference for Berlin or Munich. Candidates from other cities are welcome, provided they are open to occasional travel.

  • Reports To: CEO

  • Direct Reports: Two Business Controllers, a Group Financial Controller, two Legal Counsels, and central operations staff.

Objectives of this Role

  • Oversee financial strategy, cash management, budgeting, and reporting to drive profitability and sustainable growth.

  • Optimize ERP systems (currently Netsuite) to improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.

  • Collaborate with leadership across key markets (Germany, Finland, Sweden, and the UK) to align financial operations with strategic objectives.

  • Lead M&A activities and equity story development to engage current and potential stakeholders.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement within the finance, legal, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that support organizational growth and profitability.

  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of ERP systems, ensuring seamless financial reporting and compliance.

  • Drive M&A initiatives, including strategic planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Manage a high-performing team, including Business Controllers, Financial Controllers, Legal Counsels, and operations staff.

  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations and proactively manage risks.

Job requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven track record as a CFO or senior financial leader, preferably in private equity-backed organizations or dynamic, international environments.

  • Strong expertise in financial strategy, ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite), and operational optimization.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a focus on inspiring and managing high-performing teams.

  • Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience in M&A processes and developing compelling equity stories.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are advantageous.

  • Familiarity with SaaS business models, digital transformation, and process automation.

  • Experience in the organization’s key markets (Germany, Finland, Sweden, and the UK) is a plus.

  • Willingness to relocate to Germany (Munich or Berlin preferred), with relocation support available.
